Yea, same as a blogroll. I only kept the name BlogList so everyone reading my blog wouldn't be looking for a Blogger Gadget in the Blogger Gadget Directory with the name Blogroll (less confusion, I hope)

You want to hear something funny, now I can't back this up 100%, but I think this is what's happening right now on my soswitcher blog.

Inside my BlogList at the bottom left side of my blog, One of my subscriptions is to one of the highest ranking blogs on the internet (problogger.net), now I also use feedjit.com just because I like to see how my blog vistors are finding me in the search engines, in real time.

Ok, stay with me.
Today I logged on & was checking my feedjit.com screen for my blog, I found someone visited my site from a Google search for "technorati and blogger ping", so I went to Google scrolled down the search results to see how far down the list I am for that specific search string. What I found was I am ranked at #3 for those specific keywords, I thought well that's ok. Then I got to looking a bit closer & see that problogger.net is ranked below me at #5

Again I might be wrong, but I can't help to think If that Blogger BlogList has anything to do with me beating out problogger.net on that search string, my gut says it does.

When I first set this Blogger BlogList up, this was what I was shooting for, link to a couple of High ranking blogs, & use that link to :

1) piggyback on their blog Titles in Google Search results, by linking to them it could place my in second place in a Google search for something that is in their blog Title, see I don't have to do anything to rank higher because they are already ranked high, so If I piggyback in 2nd place, well heck I'm ok with that! See my blog isn't very old (about 7 months old), but they on the other hand are well established on the net.

Sounds like another blogger blog post in the works...

Great post! I am inspired in making more blogs and continuing this fun hobby of mine. I would try to be better as a blogger and hopefully be successful in it. Thanks again!

You get on day one a good position on google for that keyword, but then your blog will fall and that is the easy to undertand...

Your site just link to a big site with the keywords "technorati and blogger ping" so you help google on the search results by pointing and linking a "trusted site" that may containg info related to "technorati and blogger ping". after all the users and google dont need you any more, because your blog don't have any information related to "technorati and blogger ping" is just a link that you have.

If you have a link to a serious site with a goog keyword as anchor text you will rank well, ( no all casses aply ) but if you don't provide information about that topic ( in this case "technorati and blogger ping" ) is just a link. Your bounce rate will increase, and you start to lost positions on google

I will recomend you to change a bit yor post and change your meta description to include the real keywords that you need, example "technorati and blogger ping".

As you can see:
the "technorati" comes from a link (on plain text)
"Blogger" comes from the page title and page description
"Ping" comes from a mix of places on your post, page title and page description.

Google just mix all together and hope that your site have some relevant content to "technorati and blogger ping" and then depending on your bounce rate will decide if your site is relevant to "technorati and blogger ping" search

I totally agree with it blogging is the best way to update and get in touch with each other. The major thing to be consider is periodically updates. It should be updated on regular basis to get good traffic.
