Is it better to have a paid blog site or a free blogger site

Please help. I really would like to know if I'm wasting my time. I pretty much know how to get work, and build traffic and I understand that blogging takes time and could take a year or more to build some good steady traffic flow. But I'm concerned about blogging through blogger for free, and yes they allow adsense, amazon, and adsense for feeds. But am I wasting my time. Do we get paid more if we purchase our own domain and pay for hosting, or are the difendends the same depending upon traffic. I know that it would take for someone to actually have experienced being paid both ways to answer this question.

Also, I'd like to know if I am allowed to add other things like clickbank to my free blogger site, as I have an agreement with clickbank, but does that mean that blogger has to get a cut. What happens here, I am interested in signing up with several other affiliate programs, but I'm not sure if google/blogger allows this on a free site. I know that if we are willing to work the sky is truly the limit with blogging, but again, if it's best for me to have a paid site, then I would love to know that before I pour all this effort into building this site only to have to pay for my own later. I hope I've been clear. I'm very new to all of this as well, so all help and advice is much appreciated.

thank you
Leilani

Re: Is it better to have a paid blog site or a free blogger site

regarding to clickbank yes, you can include their ads on your blog as long as the colours don't match. You can see Google Adsense Policies

From: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/ ... swer=32849

You're welcome to display Google ads on the same site or page as other third party advertisements provided that the formatting or colors of the third party ads is different enough from that of the Google ads. In other words, if you choose to place non-Google ads on the same site or page as Google ads, it should always be clear to the user that the ads are served by different advertising networks and that the non-Google ads have no association with Google. If the formats are naturally similar, we ask that you choose different color schemes for the competing ads.

Is a bit stupid that they ask that since at the bottom of the ads you will allway read "Sponsored by Google" or a Google Watermark or logo... but the thing is that there are the rules...

Regarding to Free Vs Paid, i'm in both sistems and both are ok depending the proyect/website/blog... if you dont know how long it will take to your site become popular you may try for free before spend some cash in some stuff that you aren't sure.

Free - Not allways is yours, and that is the problem, in blogger your images comments and post (all the content) belong to you unless you make a mistake (you need to follow their rules not your rules), once you make a mistake your blog will get deletted and from there is no way back. I get two blogs marked as "Spam" by google, the first one i get and email like this :
Hello,

Your blog at http://#######.blogspot.com/ has been reviewed and confirmed as in violation of our Terms of Service for: SPAM. In accordance to these terms, we've removed the blog and the URL is no longer accessible.

For more information, please review the following resources:

-The Blogger Team

The problem was that the blog was used as a "Test Blog" in wich i had content from my other blogs. They didn't realise that the content was mine. The blog was restored a two weeks later after a sum of 20 emails. As i say the blog was just a test, but let me thinking "What if they delette the ones that really produce some cash?"

Paid - Unless you know you will make some cash it can be a bit problematic. Domains and hosting aren't spencive, but it will be allways hard to start unless you get sertain amount of experience from the free side of the web. The steps for somebody that don't know about web are as follow ( i think) Wordpress free or Blogger > once that two can't handle your idea > Free hosting + Free Wordpress Blog + Free Domain Name > once that is good you must start to think to move your idea to a proper paid hosting and a proper domain name.

It take a lot of time for a site become popular, some time can be a few months, other times can be years, the problem is once is there you will change the doman name from blablabla.blogspot to mysite.com and loose all your trafic with the move ?

I know you will get the traffic back but some times is not just to put a redirect link and that's it.
-----
One last thing, Adsense will pay the same, there is no diference with the domain name, the only problem is that you are too limited... I mean you only think in get revenue from Google Adsense and Clickbank ? There is a wide audience, and once you get the audience there will be people willing to pay in order to show their product on any website, the problem is not all of them are willing to pay for a F!@#$%ing blogspot blog even if you are in the top of all search results. I get frustrated after I loose a "bid" for an advertaising campaing in wich my competitor win just because he have a propper domain name and i have a blogspot.com blog. I still in position one and i drive more trafic than the rest of my competitors...
