How do I make my new blog something that interests people?

Hi! So, I just started my blog (http://www.everystarfish.blogspot.com) about volunteering at an animal shelter; I'm planning to go there regularly and then blog about what happens. But my problem is, how do I make it something that's actually interesting to people-besides my family? I'm worried that people will just find it to be a boring blathering about my life, and that the concept needs more of a draw. Do you think that's true, and if so, any ideas? Thanks!
