Confused about registered users and comments

Hi everyone,

I am new here and new to blogging. I started my own blog to share my mental health disorder with the world. I have since been getting a lot of spam comments, which I expected because people want to put their links on as many sites as they can so that they can advertise their sites. I have always just deleted these as spam.

Since I started my blog in the middle of May I have only had about 750 views. Yesterday I had about 7 views and today I have had 13. Somehow, from 2am this morning until now there have been 50 registered users on my account. (I have a form on my page so that people can sign up to get notified when I make a new post.)

I am really confused by this since the number of visitors does not match the number of registered users. It is also very abnormal to get that many registered users in one night especially because of how unpopular my blog has been.

Do I have some sort of virus or has my account been hacked? I am very confused!

Ok I found another site online that was talking about 1 weird registered user. That they were using some kind of "bot" to sign up and hoping that they would immediately become admin and be able to post and spam my blog.

Is there any way to stop this from happening? I am writing a very serious blog and I don't appreciate all this "crap" going on. Also I did have 2 subscribers that were real, but I don't remember what their email addresses were...so do I just leave these (now 63) fake subscribers on my blog or risk deleting the wrong ones?
